Therapeutic Process
The following steps outline the therapeutic process:
Choosing the right therapist is important. To help you with your decision, I offer an initial consultation; a complimentary, 20-minute online call where you meet me and get a sense of what it would be like to work with me. You can tell me about your situation and what you want from therapy. We can discuss logistics and address any questions you may have.
I will follow up with an email and a ‘Therapy Agreement’ describing the details and framework for our sessions.
If you decide you would like to go ahead, we can schedule our first session and begin therapeutic work.
I normally suggest a review at session 6 so that we can assess progress and agree any changes to our approach.
Sessions can take place in-person at one of my Central London practices or online via video call.
Therapy normally works best with weekly sessions, but sessions can be more frequent (e.g. if a crisis situation requires extra support) or less often (e.g. as things improve and you can manage longer gaps between sessions).
Although you are free to end therapy whenever you like, it is ‘best practice’ to plan a managed ending, with time for reviews and a positive closure.
