Eco-Psycology

We are at a pivotal point in the history of time. The systems that humans have created and lived by are becoming increasingly difficult to sustain in our fragmented world. Many people share a sense that fundamental aspects of the world we take for granted are about to change, perhaps radically. Yet such thoughts can feel overwhelming and it’s common to intellectualize the problems or distract oneself.

I am one of a growing number of therapists specialising in the areas of eco-psychology and the meta-crisis. I am dedicated to helping clients, individually and in groups, navigate the emotional and psychological challenges raised by the challenges of our troubles times. These include emotional, intellectual, physical and psychological responses to factors such as the climate crisis, biodiversity loss, the impact of technology and AI on people and society, economic and social inequality, loss of collective and personal meaning.

I am experienced in several aspects of this work that can facilitate projects for different audiences and objectives.

  • Co-facilitated with author and leading climate philosopher Rupert Read, these workshops are designed to build inner resilience. The experiential approach delves into the psychological and spiritual aspects of climate change, fostering emotional resilience through deep reflection and collective support.

  • Based on Joanna Macy’s ‘Active Hope’ methodologies, these workshops use various exercises and frameworks that facilitate the building of individuals, communities, and organizations into potent and resilient forces for positive change

  • Informal, lightly facilitated, and confidential gatherings with listening circles for teams or groups, where people can share their thoughts and feelings, and listen to each other, without pressure to do something. Just being together is often enough.

The reality of climate change can evoke a range of emotions, including fear, guilt, anger, anxiety, grief, and helplessness. I provide a compassionate space for you to express these feelings, process them constructively, and build resilience in the face of ecological uncertainty.

  • A series of experiences used worldwide that facilitate the building of individuals, communities, and organizations into potent and resilient forces for positive change.

  • For those working on climate and environmental issues, helping them to focus, lead, and collaborate skillfully in uncertain times, influence and engage others; for those who have had a painful “climate awakening” or are experiencing growing unease; and for activists and friends/family of activists.

Understanding our intrinsic connection to the natural world is vital for emotional and mental well-being. I incorporate eco-psychological principles to help you reconnect with nature, find solace, and develop a sustainable relationship with the environment.
